LINSTOR on Two Nodes?

Hi,

I’m giving LINSTOR a try and want to install it. How many nodes are required at least? I did not find an answer to that questions in the documentation.

Does a two node system suffice? Or do I need at least a third (maybe diskless) node for linstor to work?

For testing I’d like to use an existing 2 Node Proxmox VE-Cluster (with quorum device).

Regards,
Jack

TLDR: You can use your two existing Proxmox VE nodes to test LINSTOR.

Technically, only one node is required for LINSTOR to be able to provision volumes. A combined type LINSTOR controller + satellite could be used as a storage plugin for Proxmox VE.

You would need three nodes to enable quorum based rules for the replicated DRBD devices.

The following 2-node setup works fine for testing, but it won’t provide quorum. You can add a diskless tiebreaker node for that.

Node A: Linstor Controller + Linstor Satellite
Node B: Linstor Satellite
