The linstor-gui repo on [github](https://github.com/LINBIT/linstor-gui) says that it is GPL-3.0.

However in the [Linstor user guide](https://linbit.com/drbd-user-guide/linstor-guide-1_0-en/#ch-linstor-gui) it says:

> LINBIT GUI is a LINSTOR® client alternative, currently in Technology Preview phase. This component is proprietary and users need to have access to LINBIT® customer-only repositories to be able to use it.

As far as I can tell, they are both talking about the same code (e.g. installed using the “linstor-gui” apt/yum package).

Which of these is correct? Was the GUI originally proprietary and was then released as GPL, or is it in technology preview and may be become closed source at some point in the future?

The LINSTOR User Guide is outdated in this regard. LINSTOR GUI became licensed under the GPLv3 in September 2024.

Thank you for reporting an issue with the LINSTOR User Guide. I have updated [the GUI section](https://linbit.com/drbd-user-guide/linstor-guide-1_0-en/#p-webui) to reflect that the project is open source.
